Start of Inktober 2015

 

INKtober 2015.

Inktober is a drawing challenge started by a Utah artist named Jake Parker. Basically, it is to challenge artist to draw with ink, everyday, for the rest of October.

I have never really joined this before even if I had heard of it years ago. Why? Too busy, too lazy, to many excuses I have that doesn't really matter, because at the end of the day, I am 31 less of ink drawings..

But this year, 2015, I decided, why not? It really is a great way for me to practice my skill and creativity. It is a positive habit and a productive one to boot. So even if I am late in joining, I still pushed thru and started drawing.

Here are my first Inktober drawings:

 

With these ink drawing, I tried to challenge myself with subjects I won't usually draw, (well once in a while I give in to the temptation of drawing something I really like *cough*sailormoon*cough*!

I hope me sharing my sketches will inspire you (dear reader) to also join us in the fun. It's never too late to pick up the pen and draw.

InkTober rules:

1) Make a drawing in ink (you can do a pencil under-drawing if you want).

2) Post it on your blog (or tumblr, instagram, twitter, facebook, flickr, Pinterest or just pin it on your wall.)

3) Hashtag it with #inktober

4) Repeat

Note: you can do it daily, or go the half-marathon route and post every other day, or just do the 5K and post once a week. What ever you decide, just be consistent with it. INKtober is about growing and improving and forming positive habits, so the more you’re consistent the better.

If you are asking what I use for these, I am just using my old Unipin 0.2 and a cheap calligraphy pen from Daiso Japan.

You can use whatever tools you want (brush pen, Liners, ballpen, nib pens, etc) as long as your medium is ink. :)

I'm back~! again. :)

It's been a looooong while since I last posted.

And life has been crazy for me for the past year. I've my own shares of ups and downs. But I decided to come back to this blog and continue to share my process, my growth and my life with my art :)

Anyway, eversince I have attended ICON MANILA 2015, I find myself frequenting bookstores, spending my hard earned cash on these babies:

1. THE HOBBIT : Desolation of Smaug [Art and Design]
2. THE HOBBIT : The battle of the five armies [Art and Design]
3. The art of Book of Life
4. The art of Rise of the Guardians
5. The art of Howl's Moving Castle
6. Walt Disney Animation Studios : Layout and Background

 

These Hobbit books are beautiful. It's a combination of text and artwork. 

 

This book is my favorite amongst the bunch. It features very colorful artworks, but most of all, the text are very endearing and personal.

 

This was highly recommended by Rotoscopers :) 

 

If you want to see the behind the scenes sketches and storyboarding, then this is a wonderful book for you

 

This book is filled with environments. I bought it especially since I am trying to learn more about environment and backgrounds. :) 

I will also add in this post the Art Book that I got from Japan (That could possibly be a coloring book, but I am not sure. This is because there is a coloring manual at the end pages).
